Give this to the relevant council or health authority when asking for advice.<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Which services and methods are proposed?<\/li><li>Who owns and operates the business?<\/li><li>Where will each service take place?<\/li><li>Will staff, trainees or visiting practitioners be involved?<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A general question about a piercing licence can miss a requirement attached to the premises or the particular service. Higher-risk businesses need the relevant business licence, and operators need the designated infection-control competency HLTINF005.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Closed ear or nose piercing is listed separately as a non-higher-risk service. Those services still have infection-control obligations. Do not interpret that category as applying to every ear or nose technique; confirm the classification of your actual method with the council.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A general piercing course or blood-borne-pathogen certificate should not be described as the specified competency unless the actual award and issuing provider establish that. It states that businesses must register with their local council, meet planning and building standards and obtain necessary approvals before opening.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use the council discussion to establish what applies to your address and proposed work. Recheck the affected arrangements when changing address, methods, staff or business format.
