Begin with drawing and observation exercises, then follow your course instructions for assigned practice materials. This guide helps you organise that learning without practising on yourself or another person.

In This Guide

Set Up a Simple Drawing Session

Practise Curves and Spacing on Paper

Use Outlines to Improve Observation

Follow the Course for Practice-Material Work

Keep a Record That Makes Feedback Easier

Set Up a Simple Drawing Session

For the drawing exercises below, use plain paper, a pencil, a ruler and a dated notebook. You do not need blades, pigment or a person to work on. Keep the page and your seated position consistent enough to compare one attempt with the next.

Choose one objective before starting: repeated curves, spacing, a copied outline or observation notes. Write it at the top of the page. Stop when you can review the task clearly rather than filling more sheets without knowing what you are trying to improve.

Practise Curves and Spacing on Paper

Draw two light parallel guide lines. Between them, draw a row of gentle pencil curves, aiming for a similar start and finish in each. On a second row, repeat the task while paying attention to the spaces between the curves. This is a drawing exercise, not a template for placing strokes in skin.

Circle one area that looks consistent and one that differs from your intention. Describe the difference: a curve changed direction, a line finished early or the spacing became uneven. Repeat a short row with that observation in mind and retain both attempts.

Do not translate pencil pressure or a paper exercise into blade pressure, depth or a treatment technique. Those are separate practical questions for structured training.

Use Outlines to Improve Observation

Use a course-provided drawing reference or a simple outline you have permission to copy for study. Mark a centre guide and sketch the overall shape lightly. Compare the proportions with the reference before adding detail.

Write down what you notice rather than describing the result only as good or bad. For example: “The right outline is wider than the reference” identifies something that can be discussed and revised. Keep the exercise on paper; it is not a method for deciding an individual client’s treatment design.

If you are unsure what the tutor expects, ask for clarification before repeating the same uncertain task. A clear question and an unedited image of the whole page are more useful than a cropped image that hides the guides.

Follow the Course for Practice-Material Work

When your course assigns work on a practice material, use its specified materials, equipment and instructions. Ask before substituting supplies or attempting a task that has not been explained. Do not rely on a generic shopping list to establish compatibility or suitability.

Practice materials and human skin are different. A tidy result on a practice sheet does not by itself show readiness to work on a person. Clarify assessment, supervision and the conditions for progressing before arranging any live practical work.

The UK microblading course page is the starting point for current course details. Avoid filters, smoothing or digitally repairing the work in an image submitted for feedback. If lighting or focus makes a photograph hard to judge, retake the photograph rather than editing the exercise.

For public sharing, label practice work accurately and keep it separate from client examples. The portfolio guide explains that distinction. Progress through the course’s assessment process rather than treating a set number of sheets or hours as proof of competence.

Course Details and Next Steps

Review the current course details for UK learners and contact Skinart with questions about your selected option.
