Other routes include contact with damaged skin or open wounds and splashes reaching the eyes, nose or mouth.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HSE also explains that infection through everyday social contact with someone who has a blood-borne virus is very unlikely. Focus on the work activity and the possible exposure route, rather than assumptions about a person.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A useful study question is: \u201cWhere could the material contact the worker during this task?\u201d Answer it using the lesson and the workplace risk assessment. Ask how the arrangements work if the usual supervisor is unavailable. During a real event, follow the immediate response arrangements and obtain appropriate clinical help; do not wait for course support.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leave decisions about testing, post-exposure treatment and clinical follow-up to the appropriate healthcare professionals. There is no need to handle contaminated materials to explore an uncertainty. Give the tutor the lesson reference for a learning question, and ask the responsible workplace person about local arrangements.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the course material and a workplace instruction appear different, raise the difference explicitly.
