Teach tattooing · Canadian artists
Teach the practical skills behind your tattooing. Skinart invites experienced Canadian tattoo artists to apply to guide a four-day in-person workshop alongside a learner’s online tattoo course.

Online learning. Four practical days. Your experience.
You bring
Tattooing experience, a relevant portfolio and the ability to explain your work in a suitable studio.
Skinart supplies
The online tattoo course plus workshop activities and guidance for the practical teaching.
The learner follows
The online learning pathway, with an extra charge for a four-day in-person workshop.
The student still completes the Skinart online tattoo course and its completion requirements to receive the Skinart course certificate. The workshop adds practical time with a local artist; it does not replace the online course or mean a learner is ready for independent work after four days.
Skinart supplies the workshop activities and guidance on what to cover and how to deliver it. You need to know how to tattoo and be able to explain your methods, demonstrate carefully and give useful feedback. You must also hold any licence required where you work.
Read the current tattoo course outline before applying. Fine-line tattooing is included alongside blackwork, tribal and Māori-inspired design exercises, traditional tattooing, watercolour and colour realism. The main course also includes the separate online bloodborne-pathogen course.
Make a local proposal that learners can plan around
Tell us where you would actually teach, not just the province you hope to cover. A learner travelling to a studio needs clear dates, a real location and a good understanding of the practical teaching arrangements before making plans.
Name the province and the studio
Include the town or city, province or territory, and proposed studio. Explain your role there and whether you can reserve a dedicated teaching station for the four-day block.
Explain language and access
Tell us which languages you can comfortably teach in and any access information a learner should discuss beforehand. A learner must be able to understand practical explanations and feedback, not only an initial booking message.
Be realistic about travel and scheduling
If a learner may need to travel a long distance or stay locally, identify that early for discussion. Do not include accommodation, equipment or model arrangements in an offer until they are agreed with Skinart.
Confirm the local operating position
Check requirements for your premises and proposed activities with the relevant local authority and insurer, including registration or licensing where required. Share the applicable details rather than assuming one location’s rules apply across Canada.
Good tattooing needs clear teaching
A learner needs more than a view over your shoulder. Be ready to explain why you made a design, setup or technique decision, watch a practice attempt and identify a specific next improvement. Allow time for questions and keep practical tasks within the agreed workshop plan.
The four-day workshop complements the Skinart online tattoo course with practical guidance from an experienced artist. Agree dates, learner arrangements and commercial terms with Skinart before advertising places.
Introduce yourself and your studio
Use the existing Skinart Canada contact page and begin your message with “Tattoo trainer application — your town or city”. Include:
- Your name, town or city, region and the studio where you would teach.
- Your tattooing background and links to your own portfolio, including healed work where available.
- Your studio role, teaching space, relevant equipment and practical availability for a four-day block.
- The languages you can teach in and any previous mentoring or teaching experience.
- Relevant licensing or registration where required, and anything about your premises or insurance that needs checking.
- The questions you want to discuss about workshop delivery and commercial arrangements.
Send a concise introduction and portfolio links first. Avoid sending identity documents or private client records in an initial enquiry. Contacting the team starts a discussion; it is not confirmation of appointment as a trainer.
Trainer questions
Can I teach in English, French or another language?
Include the languages you can teach in when you enquire. Skinart and the learner need to discuss how the online course and practical explanations will work together; do not promise translated course materials that have not been confirmed.
Who issues the student’s certificate?
The student follows the Skinart online course and its completion requirements to receive the Skinart course certificate. Adding a practical workshop does not create a separate local licence or remove course requirements.
What will I earn as a trainer?
Trainer rates, responsibilities and commercial terms are for discussion with Skinart. This page does not quote a fee, allocate learners or guarantee bookings.
Can I apply from another country?
Yes. Choose your country below, or contact Skinart if it is not listed. Use the location where you would actually deliver the workshop.
