BBP certification: what it shows and what it does not

A bloodborne pathogen certificate can document completed learning. It cannot replace the risk controls and practical induction used in a workplace. When comparing courses, ask what the assessment establishes and which organisation needs to accept the resulting evidence.

Understand the completion record

Ask the provider for the exact course title, syllabus, assessment and certificate conditions. Skinart’s online BBP course lists transmission, PPE, hand hygiene, waste, sharps, exposure incidents, records and a quiz.

Keep the completion date with the course version and any assessment information supplied. If you need the record for employment or an application, give the requesting organisation these specific details rather than only an accreditation logo.

Check the named recognition

The CPD Standards Office directory lists Skinart Trading as provider 22634 and names Bloodborne Pathogen Training among its accredited activities. Check the exact course scope when recognition matters to your plans.

The current course also describes BAQA recognition. Neither external recognition nor a completion certificate automatically grants permission to operate a studio, qualifies someone for a medical role or guarantees acceptance by every insurer.

Apply learning through workplace procedures

WorkSafe describes risk controls and training for tattoo workplaces. A certificate should sit alongside that work, rather than be treated as evidence that every task is being performed correctly.

Ask your manager how induction, observations and procedure reviews are recorded. Raise uncertain instructions before performing the task. If you manage a studio, make the reporting route clear to employees and contractors.

Ask who needs to accept the evidence

Explain the work you intend to do to the employer, council or insurer asking for training. Ask whether it requires a named qualification, specific subjects, practical evidence or a recent completion date. Save its answer.

Use the BBP course requirements checklist before choosing a programme. Keep course recognition, local permission, insurance and workplace induction separate so that an attractive badge does not leave an important requirement unanswered.
