Choosing PMU techniques to learn: brows, eyeliner and lips

A trend image can start a useful conversation, but popularity is not enough to choose your next PMU skill. Compare the learning areas with your experience and the support available. A thoughtful training plan is more useful than a list of styles labelled as this year’s favourites.
Compare the brow learning areas
The online PMU course lists eyebrow design and face shapes, nano eyebrow techniques and devices, and ombre techniques and pigments. Ask how the design work connects to the practical assignments and what evidence demonstrates progress.
If your focus is brows, compare the dedicated Ombre & Nano Brows course and the microblading course using their separate syllabuses and practical requirements. Do not assume courses are interchangeable because they include eyebrows. Choose the method and feedback you need, rather than only the appearance of a finished photograph.
Consider eyeliner and lips separately
Eyeliner and lip techniques are separate areas in the published PMU curriculum. Ask how consultation, preparation, practice and assessment differ between those topics. Experience with brows does not by itself answer every question about another procedure.
Discuss your starting experience with the tutor before adding a service to your learning plan. Find out what additional supervision or practice is appropriate and how to recognise the limits of your current training.
Use references without copying an outcome
Save examples to explain what interests you, then ask which part is a useful learning objective. Separate design, colour choices, immediate appearance and healed results. A reference image cannot establish suitability for another person’s skin or circumstances.
- What technique is actually shown?
- Is this practice, fresh treatment or a healed review?
- Which skill would I need to understand the result?
- What support and assessment are available for that skill?
Choose one next learning objective
Select an exercise you can complete and review rather than attempting every new style at once. Keep feedback with the work and use it to decide the next revision. Revisit the relevant colour-theory and design lessons as needed.
Read building a PMU practice portfolio for a useful record of progress. If you prefer supervised learning, compare the in-person PMU and microblading option and ask for current dates and inclusions. Your course choice should follow the skill you need to develop.
