BBP course requirements: a checklist for NZ artists

Start a BBP course comparison with the reason you need training. A new studio worker, an experienced practitioner reviewing procedures and someone responding to an insurer’s request may need different evidence. Write down the requirement before choosing a provider.
Match the syllabus to the request
Skinart’s online BBP course lists transmission, diseases and risks, PPE, hand washing, glove removal, waste, sharps, exposure procedures, records and a quiz. Compare those headings with the subjects requested by your employer or other organisation.
Ask for detail where needed. Do not assume that a heading such as incident procedure supplies a complete plan for your premises, or that BBP learning replaces practical training in tattooing, piercing or cosmetic tattooing.
Ask about assessment and the completion record
Find out what must be completed, how the quiz works and what happens if an answer needs review. Request the certificate details and ask what other evidence is available to explain the course scope.
- Which course title and completion date appear?
- What assessment is required?
- How are questions and unsuccessful attempts handled?
- Can the provider clarify the syllabus for an application?
Check acceptance before relying on it
Send the syllabus and proposed course details to the organisation requesting training. Ask for a written answer about scope, format and any date or refresher conditions. External recognition does not guarantee every organisation will accept the course.
Use understanding BBP certification to distinguish the record from recognition and permission. The NZ requirements guide helps prepare council, employer and insurer questions.
Plan access and workplace induction
Check the live purchase terms, lesson access and support arrangements. Ask what you need to study on your chosen device and how to resolve a login issue. Keep course costs separate from any further practical instruction required by the workplace.
Discuss induction with the studio manager before starting tasks. Establish which procedures you need to read and demonstrate, and who reviews them. A course can support your preparation while local acceptance and practical readiness remain separate checks.
