Should I do a Tattoo Apprenticeship?

Structured courses and apprenticeships can support different parts of learning tattooing. Compare the course content, supervision, practical experience and assessment offered by each option. A fixed number of hours alone does not show whether you have developed the skills needed for your intended work.

Useful skills to develop through a suitable training route include:

  • Drawing and design preparation
  • Hygiene, workspace cleaning and sterilization
  • Observing experienced artists and discussing technique
  • Developing practical procedure skills under appropriate supervision
