Organising a piercing licensing enquiry and application

A useful application organiser keeps the address, service and unresolved requirements together. It is not a national licence checklist: the relevant council must confirm what applies to your proposed work. Start with its current process, then assemble the information requested.

Create a clear enquiry file

Record the proposed address, services, working arrangement and applicant contact details. Note whether you are joining an existing studio, changing services or opening new premises.

Keep the same service description in enquiries to the council, insurer and training provider. Different descriptions can produce answers that are difficult to compare.

Record the authority’s instructions

  • Application or registration route.
  • Premises and inspection requirements.
  • Training and assessment evidence requested.
  • Required documents and submission method.
  • Fees, conditions and renewal dates.

Mark a missing item as a question, not as unnecessary. Distinguish a proposal or draft rule from requirements currently in effect.

Prepare evidence without overstating it

Use the online body piercing course syllabus and completion information when training details are requested. Ask for clarification if the authority needs procedure-specific or practical assessment evidence.

Keep the certificate title accurate. Provider recognition and BAQA registration should not be described as a council licence or premises approval.

Close the unanswered questions

Save dated replies and follow up on unclear conditions before scheduling an opening. Record what changes would require a new enquiry or updated approval.

Use local licence questions and certificate evidence checks alongside the actual council instructions. The organiser helps you track progress; it does not replace an authority’s assessment or approval.
